This week I’m in Iceland documenting the country’s unique half-wild horses. I thought you might want to see what I’ve packed in my Lowerpro Camera backpack. Take a look!
Anticipating the Elements
I’ve got my Canon 5D Mark III, a Canon 5D Mark II, as well as a Fuji Film camera for local shots. Before my departure, I knew rain was in the forecast. To protect my cameras, I’ve packed a rain sleeve.
Amateur and pro photographers alike know that the cold is no friend to your batteries. That’s why I always carry a few spares, especially on this trip!
Essential Travel Companions
I love essential oils from DoTerra. On this trip I’m bringing “On Guard” spray and oil for my immune system. I’m also packing “Citrus Bliss” oil to energize. It’s a mix of orange and vanilla. I will also be in a totally different timezone so my sleep will be off so I’ve created a lavender spray that should help me catch some zzz’s.
My Mane
My blue bandana, hair tie and Boston Red Sox cap are my go-tos to keep my mane out of my face while I’m shooting.
Capture the Moment
For me, capturing the moment is about more than the photos. That’s why I always pack a Moleskine notebook and a Pilot V5 pen. I take notes in the field and journal at the end of the day. After the trip, these notes help me in naming my pieces and they’re a special keepsake to revisit.
In-Flight Reading
My current reads are “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen and “Grit” by Angela Duckworth. Downtime on a plane or in an airport can be time used well if you’re prepared with reading you’re excited about.
I can’t wait to share more images from this trip! Join the Insider List to get updates on my adventures.
